* To whom correspondence should be addressed. We report a rare case of left thoracic kidney with contralateral ureteral duplication. A 31-year-old Chinese female presented to a clinic with a left chest mass found by chest X-ray examination. Image studies, including computer tomography and intravenous pyelography, revealed that there was a left thoracic kidney and right ureteral duplication without other anomalies. The rarity of this combination led us to present it. Concurrent anomalies or complications accompanied with thoracic kidneys reported in the literature were reviewed. The role of embryology in these anomalies is also discussed. Thoracic kidneys should be kept in mind as important in the differential diagnosis of thoracic masses. Searching for possible complications or concurrent anomalies, although infrequent, is important.
