With this editorial, we convey our New Year best wishes to readers, editors and reviewers and provide an update on last year's achievements.

The bi-annual meeting of the editorial board of NDT and NDT Plus was held during the recent ASN congress in Philadelphia. This was attended by a total of 39 subject editors, associate editors and by representatives of our publisher, Oxford University Press. During this meeting, we evaluated data for the year 2007 and the first 9 months of 2008. Changes that might further improving both journals were also discussed and will, wherever possible, be implemented over the coming months.
